Week 7 Predictions

Von MillerLast week was another average week in terms of my predictions as it was yet another tough week against the spread. At this point, there is only so much to say about the parody in the league but it is worth noting how many playoff teams from last year are already struggling. Multiple division winner last year (Falcons, Texans, Redskins) with each passing week look like a playoff berth won’t be likely while the Vikings (a wildcard team last year) and teams that usually contend every year such as the Giants and Steelers have really struggled. It will be interesting to see how these teams treat the rest of the 2013 season. Will they continue to try and turnaround their seasons or do they start evaluating younger players and settle for a higher draft pick in the draft? With that being said, it’s time to look at the slate of games for week seven.

Last week: 9-6, Season: 56-36
Last week against the spread: 5-10, Season: 39-53

Game of the weak: Buccaneers vs Falcons: Like the Falcons already mentioned, the Buccaneers were another team who had high expectations going into 2013. They had an offense that could put up points and had some very nice pieces on defense. Now there are only two questions left to figure out for the Buccaneers in 2013: “Winning percentage aside, will Greg Schiano go down as one of the worst NFL head coaches ever ?” and “Will this be the first instance where a staph infection outbreak is the most memorable aspect of a team’s season?” On the Falcons end, Matt Ryan is without Julio Jones for the year and Roddy White is out this week. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least to see a line of 20 catches for 160 yards for Tony Gonzalez this week. Buccaneers 16 Falcons (-7.5) 20

Game of the week: Broncos vs Colts: You may not know this by now, but Peyton Manning is going back to play in Indianapolis this week. The return that hasn’t been mentioned nearly enough is that of Von Miller to the Broncos defense as he makes his debut this week. So a team that’s 6-0 and is blowing teams out with ease has been doing it all without their best defensive player who has still been able to workout at the facility getting into killer shape. While I feel this game should be fairly close, its going to be a long year for the rest of the AFC. Broncos 36 Colts (+6.5) 27

Bills 16 Dolphins(-7.5) 24
Patriots 24 Jets(+3.5) 17
Cowboys 34 Eagles(-2.5) 30
Bengals 23 Lions(-2.5) 28
Chargers 23 Jaguars(+9.5) 17
Bears 26 Redskins(-.5) 23
Rams 17 Panthers(-6.5) 24
49ers 26 Titans(+4.5) 17
Browns 21 Packers(-10.5) 30
Texans 16 Chiefs (-6.5) 27
Ravens 24 Steelers(-2.5) 17
Vikings 26 Giants(-3.5) 23
