Week 16 Fantasy Surprises

Chris GivensLast week minus Knowshon Moreno was a very rough one for my fantasy surprises. For many, this is the last week of fantasy football as championships will be decided. If you made it this far, congratulations as it speaks to drafting and playing the waiver wire to get to this point.

QB: Chad Henne vs Patriots:  If you got this far, chances are you won’t be looking to free agency for a quarterback. Regardless, Henne offers some nice fantasy upside this week against the Patriots. Their secondary has had their share of struggles and the Jaguars should be in comeback mode from the very beginning in this one. Expect around 240 yards and two touchdowns.

RB: DeAngelo Williams vs Raiders:  As Cam Newton continues to put up big numbers as a passer, Williams has made more out of the opportunities that he has had. Now he goes against a Raiders defense that can be beat by the run. He would make for a very good flex play this week. Expect around 80 total yards and a touchdown.

WR: Chris Givens vs Buccaneers: The Buccaneers really struggle against the pass and if you are looking for an all or nothing flex play, Givens is worth a shot. He is the Rams big play weapon and all it takes is one big play using his blazing speed to validate the start. Expect around 60 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Dwayne Allen vs Chiefs: Allen got some sleeper buzz heading into the season but has really emerged as an effective checkdown option for Andrew Luck. Look for him to continue to get his opportunities this week against a vulnerable Chiefs defense. Expect around 50 yards and a touchdown.

K: Dan Bailey vs Saints: This game has shootout potential and is a must win for the Cowboys so Bailey should see opportunities here. Expect around two field goals and three extra points.

DEF: Chargers vs Jets: The Chargers defense has had its moments this season and while they are hit and miss, this game they are worth a shot. Facing Greg McElroy in his first start, they should bring pressure early and often. That could lead to some turnovers which is all owners can really ask for. Expect around four sacks and two interceptions.
