Saints vs Falcons Prediction

Tonight’s Thursday night game should be arguably the best this season as the New Orleans Saints go take on their division rival the Atlanta Falcons. The Saints are fighting for their playoff lives while the Falcons need a true statement game to show they are as good as their record indicates.

This game has tons of shootout potential and with Drew Brees at the helm; they should be able to keep up. Look for Brees to target Jimmy Graham early and often tonight. Graham burst onto the scene in a huge way last year and while his touchdown numbers are similar, the yardage is much lower. None of the Falcons linebackers have the ability to contain him in single coverage so a breakout game could be in order.

The Falcons passing attack with Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez is well documented but don’t be surprised if running back Jacquizz Rodgers has a big game. Michael Turner has really struggled this season and Rodgers gives them a more explosive runner who also has receiving ability. Against a struggling Saints defense, he should be highly utilized.

Overall, this game should be a high scoring affair that comes down to the very end. While the Falcons weren’t able to pull out a victory when the two teams played in New Orleans, things should change tonight.  Prediction: Saints 27 Falcons(-3.5) 31

  1. The line I was aware of was Falcons (-3.5)…who has them at (-7.5)? That’s something usually reserved for [insert good team] (-6.5) vs. [insert bad team]. Nonetheless, great points. I’d add that the Falcons front seven now has a scheme against this Saint’s offensive line taken from the 49ers last week (not that the Falcons have the same talent). Should be very, very interesting to watch.
