Week Four Fantasy Surprises

Last week as a whole was a pretty solid one for my fantasy surprises as Michael Bush, Dennis Pitta, Dan Bailey all had nice games while the Cardinals defense had a huge week. Something for owners to consider this week is that byes have officially started. This week, it is only the Colts and Steelers on bye but there will be more teams in the following weeks.

QB: Christian Ponder vs Lions: Ponder hasn’t received much talk up to this point but he has been very efficient with his arm and legs through three weeks. Now he goes against a Lions defense that really struggles against the pass. This game has shootout potential so if you’re in need of a quarterback, Ponder would be an excellent option this week. Expect around 240 total yards and two touchdowns.

RB: Cedric Benson vs Saints:  Benson has been very efficient for the Packers the past two weeks and now he has a matchup against a reeling Saints defense. This is another game with shootout potential so Benson is definitely worth a start this week. Expect around 90 total yards and a touchdown.

WR: Malcom Floyd vs Chiefs: The Chargers passing game really struggled last week and it’s honestly really hard to picture them getting any worse. Floyd has a very favorable matchup against a Chiefs team that has struggled against the pass up to this point. Expect around 80 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Kyle Rudolph vs Lions: It feels like I’ve had Rudolph here multiple times already but he’s still available in countless leagues and has been very efficient up to this point. Outside of Percy Harvin, he is Ponder’s top target and the Lions have struggled against big, athletic tight ends. Expect around 70 yards and a touchdown.

K: Shayne Graham vs Titans: The Titans gave Jason Hanson a ton of opportunities last week and chances are that will continue for Graham. The Texans offense showed last week they truly have big play potential so a big week could be in line. Expect around two field goals and three extra points.

DEF: Falcons vs Panthers: I never would have thought in the preseason that I’m picking a defense that is starting against Cam Newton. However, all the negative criticism could light a fire into Newton and he will have a huge game. This is a high risk high reward option here. Expect around three sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
